Hamilton is primarily known as a menswear designer since his Fall 2007 collection. In men’s wear, Hamilton continues to blur the line between abstract design and fine craftsmanship. He mixes innovative ornamental details and geometric elements with functional simplicity and authentic craft production. This leads to his street-wear meets tailoring look. He won the CFDA/Swarovski Award for emerging menswear designer in 2009.
The brand began in New York and was showcased at presentations during New York Fashion Week, however Hamilton decided to do his first menswear runway show in Paris in June 2009, following an invitation from the French Fashion Syndicate. He is the first American based designer to show during Paris Men’s Fashion week. He presented an eccentric space inspired S/S ’10 collection at the Palais Brogniart, sending his models down the runway emanating an airy feel of transparency. Despite this sudden relocation to Paris, Tim Hamilton is going to keep a presence in New York, thus honoring his win of the CFDA Swarovski Award for Emerging Men’s Wear Designer in 2009.[1]
Alongside men’s wear, Tim Hamilton launched his first women’s collection for the A/W ’09 season. The collection was shown during Paris Fashion Week in March 2009. The Tim Hamilton woman has a strong character. “She knows what she wants,” say Hamilton. This attitude is reflected through bold shapes, a minimal color palette, and an emphasis on textured patterns, all done while remaining feminine with an innate sense of elegance.
Hamilton’s collections are sold at top luxury shops around the world. Despite his global success, Tim Hamilton is still a small, independently backed company with offices in New York and Paris.
Hassanali's collections have been shown widely throughout Africa and Italy.[citation needed] His work features detailed beadwork and embellishments.
His work has been showcased at the Cape Town fashion week, Vukani Fashion Awards in Pretoria, Miss Ethiopia Beauty pageant, Mediterranean Fashion Festival in Sicily, Italy and Uganda and Kenya Fashion Week, as well as signature shows in Tanzania.[citation needed]
His work has been featured in several African magazines including The East African, African Woman, Kenyan Cosmopolitan, and Bang Magazine. Hassanali has also been featured on CNBC Europe, MNETS studio 53, SABC Africa and East Africa TV[citation needed].
Grace Mary Chess was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of William E. Chess, who owned a local cordage mill. In 1907 she married Avery Robinson, also from Louisville and son of another Louisville mill owner, who had worked for her father after graduating from MIT. In 1920 Chess and Robinson left for London where Robinson was employed as treasurer to the Royal Philharmonic Society.[2] In London she became famous for her sculpted metal flowers which she sold to the Queen Mother. She founded the Mary Chess Company in 1932.[3]
While in London Chess sent her daughter Carley to study with Nadia Boulanger, despite the composer's pessimistic assessment of the girl's aptitude for music.[4] In the end Carley did not pursue a musical career but instead became a writer of children's books.[5]
Sultanna Frantsuzova was born in Russia, Elista city. As a student of Slava Zaitsev's Fashion Laboratory in Moscow, Sultanna Frantsuzova won many awards. She showed herself to be a talented designer with unconventional ideas, a feel for the zeitgeist and an understanding of women. A year after graduating, Sultanna was named one of the prize-winners of the Nadezhda Lamanova Contest for upcoming designers, and awarded a scholarship for the Fine Arts Academy in Milan (Accademia Scuola di Milano). Her designs were showcased at the Fashion Awards Ceremony in Switzerland. In 2000, Sultanna Frantsuzova began design women collections for the Russian based brand Lo. In 2003 she created her first independent collection under the name Sortie de Bal and opened a small boutique in Moscow. 2004 saw the launch of Sultanna Frantsuzova's own label which would soon become a household name. The brand grew quickly. In just one year, the Sultanna Frantsuzova label generated huge sales and amazing brand recognition across Russia and Europe. In 2005 Sultanna Frantsuzova was named Designer Of The Year by the Russian edition of Glamour magazine Awards. In 2007 Elle Style Awards /Russia/ have been nominate Sultanna Frantsuzova the Designer Of The Year.
Soon after, designer decided to expand her fashion label into Asia region and moved to Hong Kong, at the same time becoming creative director for her new brand – Anybody's Blonde. Today, the label Anybody's Blonde operates retail shops across Russia and Asia. The chain currently growing and is constantly expanding.
Born in Junin, Argentina, he began his career in Buenos Aires at the age of 17, where he studied and worked with Manuel Lamarca. At 23 he was given a ticket to fly to Miami on vacation, a trip that would change his life. He is quoted saying "I fell in love with Neiman Marcus", and returned to Argentina to say goodbye to his family.[citation needed]
After returning to Miami he began working with Neiman Marcus, organizing shows and sales. After receiving his degree from the International Fine Arts College in Miami he designed a dress that was published in a News paper and caught the eye of Egon von Furstenberg (then-husband of Diane von Furstenberg).
He graduated and then spent three and a half years in Italy working with many of Milan's famous fashion houses. He later worked with Perry Ellis in New York.
He has dressed Catherine Zeta-Jones, Geena Davis, Kate Walsh, Roselyn Sanchez, Jewel, Demi Lovato, Kim Kardashian, Emily Deschanel, Dania Ramirez, and Eva Longoria. His collections can be found at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and many boutiques and specialty stores in North America.
