Fashion Model Runway Biography
IT’S one of the most hotly anticipated fashion shows of the year and fans of lingerie line Victoria’s Secrets were not disappointed with the catwalk show in Manhattan last night.
Victoria’s Secret Angels Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima were joined on the catwalk by singers Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars, as they modelled underwear.
Rihanna, who tweeted topless pictures of herself backstage at the event, performed new songs, Diamonds as well as Fresh Off the Runway. The singer wore a black corset dress, slit to the thigh, with suspenders and pearls, before changing into a less risqué pale pink lace dress.
The 24-year clearly seemed to be enjoying herself on the catwalk and playfully interacted with the models at the carnival themed event at New York's Lexington Armory.
She tweeted: "#LEGITmodelShit I'm a #VS girl now lol,"
All eyes were on 31-year-old Victoria Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosia who was wearing the most expensive item in the show, the famous, jewel-studded fantasy bra, which is worth $2.5m. The 2012 bra, which is redesigned every year, was made out of 5,200 precious and semi-precious stones, including amethysts, sapphires, rubies and diamonds.
Also drawing admiring looks was new mother, Adriana Lima. The 31-year-old gave birth to her second child only eight weeks ago and is already back to her pre-pregnancy shape.
Another new mum, Lily Aldridge, who is married to Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, was also looking svelte despite giving birth to her first daughter four months ago.
The Y chromosome was provided by singer Justin Bieber. The 18-year-old looked very at home with the Victoria Secret’s Angels as he took to the stage.
British models Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delavigne appeared in the show for the first time and Victoria Secret’s veteran, Australian model Miranda Kerr tweeted back stage pictures of herself wearing a silky pink robe, revealing her bra.
Kerr revealed her secrets for getting in shape for the annual show earlier this week.
“It's a lot of work. Resistance training and yoga. I'm very big on nutrition. I also think the power of the mind is really strong. When I'm around my son [her two-year-old with husband Orlando Bloom] I'm very conscious of being on the phone. It's really important to be with him when I'm with him. And when he naps, or after he goes to bed, I'm on e-mail and whatnot," she says.
